Winners of 2012 Society Excellence Awards Announced by CFA Institute

Twelve local societies have been named winners in CFAInstitute’s 2012 Society Excellence Awards Program. The awards program recognizes the work and dedication shown by CFA societies and volunteers in several categories, including Best Outreach and Awareness Campaign, Best Collaborative Initiative, and Best Member Communications. Two of the twelve societies, Italy and India, were selected as honorees in two separate categories.

Globally there are 136 affiliated CFA Institute societies in 58 countries. Each society serves a crucial role in supporting the CFA Institute mission on a local, country, or statewide level by organizing member education and networking opportunities and by forming working partnerships with universities, employers, and the media.

 “We take great pride in honoring our societies and the volunteers who dedicate so much time to local initiatives,” noted Chip Deale, head, Society Relations. “We congratulate these twelve societies who deserve these awards, and we also thank each and every society for the high standard of service, hard work, and dedication that they put in to supporting the CFA Institute mission.”

The winners of the 2012 Society Excellence Awards Program are:

  • Most Outstanding by Size: Under 100 members
    • CFA Hawaii

“It means a lot to be recognized by the leadership of this great organization for our efforts to spread the word about ethics, professionalism, and education,” said Mike Hirai, CFA, former president, CFA Hawaii.

  • Most Outstanding Society: 100-249 Members
    • Czech CFA Society
  • Most Outstanding by Size: 250-599 members
    • CFA Association of Russia
  • Most Outstanding by Size: 600+ members
    • CFA Vancouver
  • Most Innovative Initiative:
    • Italian CFA Society
  • Best Governance Program
    • Italian CFA Society

“We are very proud to win this award,” said Matteo Cassiani, CFA, president, Italian CFA Society. “The society board devoted a lot of time to this project and recognition by CFA Institute is really important to us.”

  • Best Outreach and Awareness Campaign:

  • Best Collaborative Initiative:
    • CFA Society of Buffalo; CFA Society of Rochester
    • Edmonton CFA Society; CFA Society of Saskatchewan
  • Best Member Communications:
    • Indian Association of Investment Professionals
  • Best Volunteer Management Program:
    • Indian Association of Investment Professionals
  • Best Membership Recruitment, Engagement and Renewal Initiatives:
    • CFA West Michigan Society

The awards program considered initiatives that were executed between 1 June 2011 and 1 April 2012. To ensure objectivity and fairness, all entries were judged by representatives from organizations not affiliated with CFA Institute.
