CFA Institute Appoints Josina Kamerling and Mirzha de Manuel Aramendia to its Brussels Office
Josina Kamerling has been appointed as head of Regulatory Outreach for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA), and Mirzha de Manuel Aramendia has been appointed as director of Capital Markets Policy (EMEA), of CFA Institute. Both new appointments will be based in the CFA Institute Brussels office.
In her new role, Ms Kamerling will be responsible for supporting CFA Institute policy development in EMEA, advancing the impact of advocacy efforts as well as promoting the integrity of the capital markets and investor protection issues. Prior to joining CFA Institute, Ms. Kamerling was a specialist adviser on financial services in the European Parliament for six years, advising the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee and the Special Committee on the Financial, Economic and Social Crisis on all aspects of financial services policy issues and technical information.
Prior to this, Ms Kamerling held numerous roles as a banker for 15 years: as a Senior Banker in the Global Clients division of ING, managing a group of multinational clients on a worldwide basis and on all business lines, and as Head of Sales in the Financial Markets division of ING group. Ms Kamerling holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Law and Modern Languages from Cambridge University, is a Dutch national and is fluent in Dutch, English, Spanish, French, and Italian.
Mr de Manuel will be responsible for developing capital markets policy in the EMEA region through education and research, as well as representing the interests of CFA Institute members on capital market issues.
Mr de Manuel joins CFA Institute from the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels where he was a Research Fellow. At CEPS, he notably authored two task force reports (Rethinking Asset Management and Saving for Retirement and Investing for Growth) and participated and contributed to several studies for European institutions. Mr de Manuel holds an MA in European Economic and Legal Analysis from the College of Europe in Belgium and is a qualified lawyer from the Bar of Madrid. He also holds a Masters in Business Economics and a Masters in Spanish and Common Law from the University of Valladolid.
