New Members of Board of Governors at CFA Institute

CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, today announces its Board of Governors, effective 1 September 1, 2023, the start of the new fiscal year at CFA Institute.

This year, the Board of Governors welcomes first-term governor Pamela Yang, CFA. Mark Lazberger, CFA, has been reelected to the role as Chair of the Board of Governors. Heinz Hockmann, PhD, has been elected to the role of Vice Chair of the Board of Governors. Marshall Bailey, CFA, and Yimei Li, CFA, were reelected to second terms.

“I am excited to begin our work in fiscal year 2024 alongside this diverse group of governors, each of whom volunteers time to safeguard the future of CFA Institute,” said Mark Lazberger, CFA, Chair of the Board. “The Board of Governors plays a critical role in ensuring the organization is delivering upon its mission. As I enter my third year as Chair of the Board, I am confident that we are well-positioned to continue to do just that. I am thrilled to welcome our first time-governor Pamela Yang, as well as congratulate Heinz Hockmann on his deserved appointment to Vice Chair of the Board. Together, we will continue to develop and deliver genuine value to our members and the industry against a backdrop of continued evolution, always in support of the ultimate benefit of society.”

Incoming Board member, Pamela Yang, CFA, currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for The Bulfinch Companies, Inc., a commercial real estate investment firm focused on the life science sector. Prior to her current role, she held diverse roles in the investment industry including at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Harvard Management Company, and State Street Global Advisors.

She has been a dedicated member of the CFA community since earning the charter in 2003. Yang served on the Board of the Boston Security Analysts Society, now known as CFA Society Boston, for nearly a decade, dedicated many years as a volunteer grader for the CFA Program, and serves on the Disciplinary Review Committee.

Board of Governors Roster

The FY2024 CFA Institute Board of Governors comprises a diverse group of 14 members who reside in nine countries, namely: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, India, Malaysia, Nigeria, United Kingdom, and the United States. CFA Institute membership elects officers for a one-year term and Governors for a three-year term. CFA Institute fiscal years run from September 1 to August 31.
