CFA Institute Reports Results for CFA® Program Level I Testing in May 2024

CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, announces that of 21,116 candidates worldwide who sat for the Level I CFA® Program exam in May 2024, 46 percent have passed. All candidates will be notified of their results today. 

“My congratulations to all candidates who’ve received news today of their exam success in the Level I CFA Program exam,” said Chris Wiese, CFA, Managing Director, Education, at CFA Institute. “Once again, the Level I pass rate is above the 10-year average of 40 percent. We are pleased to see more candidates achieve success in this first part of their CFA Program journey and note the continued bounce back in the overall Level I pass rate.”  

“As we have in the past, we urge candidates to try to stay on schedule when at all possible. Our latest exam results analysis shows again that choosing to defer an exam impacts candidates’ chances for success. First-time testers in the May cohort scored above the average pass rate, with a pass rate of 53 percent. Candidates who sat their exam having previously deferred once or more times had an average passing rate of 27 percent.”  

“We encourage all candidates to focus on the study habits that lead to successful outcomes on the CFA exams. Preparation remains the key predictor of exam success.”    

Candidates for the May Level I CFA Program exams attended in person at one of 486 proctored computer-based examination venues located in 383 cities in 107 markets worldwide. Exam Levels I and II were held during the May testing period. Level II results will be released to candidates on 2 July 2024.
