Daniel Jim
Daniel Jim serves as the senior adviser to Chartwell Family Partners, with his main responsibility being strategic asset allocation and external manager selection. He began his career in Europe and was instrumental in supporting major European institutions' first investments into Chinese equities. He subsequently founded one of the first homegrown independent investment management firms in greater China, focusing on alternative investment strategies. Over the years, Jim has established himself as one of Asia's pioneers in global hedge fund investments, conducted due diligence on more than 6,000 funds and allocated to more than 100 funds. Jim has been lecturing at the HKSI Institute for more than 20 years on topics ranging from hedge fund to asset management and currently is the part-time lecturer at the Hong Kong Metropolitan University. He also serves as a nongovernmental adviser to the Competition Commission of Hong Kong SAR, advising on matters related to the financial services sector. After graduating from St. Joseph’s College in Hong Kong, Jim earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and SDA Bocconi in Milan, respectively.
